C - Followed by  A - O  or U, sounds like /K/ as in CAR, COIN: CARRO - COCO

Ç - Followed by A - O or U: the cedille forces it to be pronounced softly as /SS/ like in ASSOCIATION: MAÇÃ - BRAÇO The cedille must not be used if the following letter is "E" or "I". There are no words beginning by Ç
